Once she gets into college, she'll really have to balance her daily life. Time management is tremendously important at the college level.
And perhaps most importantly, Jantz says, parents should "visit the institutions with their daughters and make sure that this is the choice their daughter wants to make because this is a decision that must be right for her. Boddy encourages young women who are contemplating an athletic scholarship to 'just go for it.
And our coaches made sure we were keeping up on academics. Boddy believes that the future is even more hopeful for young women athletes than it was for her 10 years ago.
So while they're in middle school and high school, they must be willing to focus a great deal of time and effort on their education," she says.
